We are sad to announce that there will not be a VBS at St. Lawrence this year. This was a difficult decision to make, but in the midst of continued uncertainty, it is the decision we believe had to be made.
We realize that June 8, the date VBS was supposed to start, is still several weeks away, however, there are many factors to consider. VBS at St. Lawrence is always very well attended and for that reason, it would likely pose a great risk to have nearly 400 people together under one roof at that time. It would also be nearly impossible to implement strict precautionary measures to keep everyone healthy and protected from being exposed to Covid-19. At a time when supplies are in high demand and inventory is low, it would be extremely difficult to procure the supplies needed for such a large event that lasts a week, both to make it happen and to keep everything clean and sanitized. As you know, our program involves infants all the way to the elderly, and it would not be prudent to jeopardize anyone’s healthy during this questionable time.
We realize that it is possible that things will have cleared up by the time VBS would roll around and hopefully things will be mostly back to normal by then. However, due to a great deal of planning and necessary preparations needed ahead of time, which are usually in full swing by now, it will not be possible to make this year’s VBS a reality.
Anyone who has already registered will be refunded by means of their original form of payment.
We will greatly miss being able to see everyone this year, but we look forward to next year’s Egyptian Expedition at VBS!
